The Two Kinds of Sin Part 2

I’m so excited about what I’m going to share with you today. I know it’s going to liberate you in many ways and in many forms.

Yesterday, we started talking about the two kinds of sin. We already spoke about the first kind, which is the sin that leads to death. Like I said yesterday, when Adam sinned, all men sinned. Every man born of a woman is a sinner—no matter what, even if it’s a baby.

Sometimes, you look at certain babies and realize how much of a sinner they are just by the way they look at you or behave at certain times. They are selfish by nature. They always want you to carry them, and when you put them down, they cry again and again. There’s something inside them. You don’t even have to teach a child to insult or misbehave; as the child grows, he naturally picks up the wrong things from society.

He may be raised in one of the best homes, but as he grows, he still begins to display certain behaviors because sin is inherent and inborn. The reason is because of Adam’s transgression. Adam’s sin made everyone a sinner, so all men are born into this world as sinners.

I like what is written in Genesis 5 from verse 1. It helps us understand this very well.

Genesis 5:1 (KJV)
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him.
So God made man in His likeness.

Verse 2:
Male and female created he them...
This is what I was saying yesterday—He created all of them at the same time.

...and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
Adam was the name of all humanity. It wasn’t just one man called Adam; he was the head of the Adamic race. Everybody was created in Adam.

Genesis 5:3 (KJV)
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness (not in the likeness of God but in his own likeness) after his image; and called his name Seth.

What does that mean? It means that Seth was made in Adam’s likeness—in Adam’s fallen image—because Adam had lost the image of God. That’s why the Bible says in Romans 3:23 (KJV):
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

So Adam gave birth to a child in the image of his fallen nature. The Bible says Adam lived 930 years and begat sons in his own likeness, not in God’s likeness.

Now Jesus came to deal with that sin that leads to death in all of humanity. That is why Jesus came—to die for sin. He offered Himself once and for all sins.

If you don’t believe, the sin that Adam committed is what causes spiritual death. That’s why men are born not knowing God, why there’s a huge hole in every person that longs and seeks for God.

What is the backbone of all the religions in the world? It’s man’s thirst for God. Man is searching for God everywhere and tries to fill that thirst with different things and different forms of worship. But the only one who can fill that space—the only one who can satisfy that void in man—is God.

All men are spiritually dead. In other words, they are not active or alive to God. The only person who can make them alive to God is Jesus Christ.

That’s why Jesus came—to offer Himself for sins once and for all. Turn quickly to Hebrews 9:24:

Hebrews 9:24 (KJV)
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.

He did everything for us—the whole of humanity, not just believers.

Verse 25:
Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

Verse 26:
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Verse 27:
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Verse 28:
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

So, He offered Himself once and for all to bear the sins of many.

When a man dies physically, that physical death is a result of spiritual death. If a man dies physically without receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior, that man dies eternally and is condemned to hell, awaiting the lake of fire one day. That’s why Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin because they do not believe in Him.

John 16:8 (KJV)
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

John 16:9 (KJV)
Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Verse 10:
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

Jesus came to give His life so that those who believe in Him would have that sin that leads to death taken away from them.

Turn to 1 John 3:8–9:

Verse 8 (KJV):
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Verse 9 (KJV):
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

When you are born of God, you cannot sin. What sin is he talking about? The sin that leads to death. The nature of sin that Adam carried has been taken away by virtue of Jesus’ sacrifice.

So don’t call yourself a sinner, my brother—you are not.

It says, “He cannot sin.” It doesn’t say “does not practice sin” or “tries not to sin.” It says he cannot sin—why? Because he is born of God. Why? Because the seed of God remains in him.

There is a seed of God inside you—the seed of righteousness—which is implanted in your spirit.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

I am born of God, and I cannot sin because the sin that leads to death has been taken care of. I am no longer a sinner, in Jesus’ name.
